The Royal Jordanian Falcons: Aerobatic excellence on display !

Founded in 1976 at the initiative of His Majesty King Hussein Bin Talal, the national aerobatic display team Royal Jordanian Falcons has embodied the aeronautical excellence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for nearly five decades. Through the art and science of aerobatic flying, the mission was clear: to promote Jordan and its values of peace, friendship, and family unity on the international stage.

Since their creation, the Royal Jordanian Falcons have become true aerial ambassadors, combining precision, elegance, and technical mastery in their displays around the world.

Continuous evolution through the decades

The team began operations with two Pitts Special S 2A aircraft, soon joined by a third aircraft to enable three ship formation displays.

Over the years, the team expanded its international presence, performing in numerous countries including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Norway, Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, thereby strengthening Jordan’s visibility on the global aviation scene.

In 1982, by Royal Decree, four Pitts Special S 2S aircraft were added to the fleet following an extensive demonstration tour across the United States. These aircraft remained in service until 1992, marking a major milestone in the team’s history.

The Extra era: performance and modernity

From 1992, the fleet was fully renewed with five Extra 300 aircraft, offering increased performance and greater versatility for aerobatic flying. This transition allowed the Royal Jordanian Falcons to continue promoting the Kingdom across all continents.

In 2007, the team adopted five Extra 300L aircraft, replacing the mid wing versions and further enhancing the precision and safety of their demonstrations.

More recently, at the request of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the fleet was modernised with the acquisition of five Extra 330 LX aircraft, representing the pinnacle of modern aerobatic aviation and ensuring the continuation of the team’s operational excellence.

Today’s demonstrations by the Royal Jordanian Falcons rely on the Extra 330 LX, a world class aerobatic aircraft renowned for its extreme capabilities and reliability.
